Alaves have had a tough time of it in La Liga and they headed into the international break on the back of a 2-1 defeat away from home at Barcelona as their poor run of results in the Spanish top flight continued as the hosts have collected just one win from their last nine matches overall, while Granada still remain sitting second from bottom and firmly ensconced in the relegation zone prior to the resumption of the La Liga action on Friday night.

Alaves' poor run of results include slipping to five defeats within these last nine league games although it should be noted that three of these five losses were incurred on their travels while on home soil, Alaves have reason to be upbeat about their chances of returning to winning ways here on Friday night against lowly Granada as Luis Garcia's side have been handed just three defeats in their last 10 home games.

Despite losses to Cadiz, Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna, Alaves have also picked up six wins within this 10-match period at their Estadio de Mendizorroza which gives the hosts a decent chance of turning things around here on Friday night.

Granada's plight looks even worse than Alaves though as the visitors sit second from bottom in the La Liga table and although they are just two points adrift of safety, Paco Lopez's side have failed to win any of their last 10 matches overall in the domestic top flight.

Indeed, Lopez's charges have managed to muster just the single victory so far in this season's La Liga campaign and that was recorded on home soil at their Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes with a 3-2 win against fellow strugglers, Mallorca, but eight defeats in their total of 13 matches played to date this term underlines the serious problems that Granada have been facing.

The bigger picture shows Granada have managed to register just one win from their last 15 matches overall in La Liga, while results away from home have been particularly poor so far this term.

Granada have lost six of their last seven outings on their travels and the visitors have collected just two wins from their previous 19 games on the road, one of which was a 3-2 win at Alaves back in March of last year, but the tables have turned in no uncertain fashion since then.

Granada have dominated proceedings in previous exchanges against hosts, Alaves, as the visitors have lost just once in the last nine meetings between these two clubs but Alaves have performed in pretty solid fashion at home and their recent results at home suggest they may be too strong for an out of sorts Granada outfit here on Friday night.
