North of the border, the Scottish Premiership is in full swing and Sunday lunchtime brings us the first of this season's Old Firm Glasgow derby between Rangers and Celtic when these two clubs clash at Ibrox with not only a valuable three points at stake but also the most important bragging rights that accompany it.

Rangers will need to dust themselves off and forget about their midweek capitulation in the Champions League when they return to Glasgow to take on local rivals, Celtic, in this first instalment of the Old Firm derby on Sunday lunchtime at Ibrox.

Following a 2-2 draw at home with Dutch side, PSV, in the 1st leg of their Champions League play-off tie, Rangers travelled to the Netherlands in quietly confident mood but they left a dejected well-beaten side having been handed a 5-0 thrashing by the Dutch giants.

Rangers had suffered an unexpected 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on the opening day of this Scottish Premiership season but Michael Beale's side had staged a swift recovery by putting together a decent looking six-match unbeaten sequence in all competitions which included a 3-2 win on aggregate against Swiss outfit, Servette, in the previous qualifying round of the Champions League.

The bigger picture shows Rangers have lost just three of their last 15 matches at Ibrox in all competitions and having collected 10 wins in the process, the hosts look in good shape to turn the tables on their rivals here.

Following two matches in recent times where Celtic have failed to win with a disappointing 1-0 defeat away from home at Kilmarnock in the Scottish League Cup along with being held to a dire 0-0 draw at home with St Johnstone, The Hoops will be eager to return to winning ways in Sunday's showdown, especially against their fierce rivals, Rangers.

Celtic had started this new domestic season in impressive fashion though as Brendan Rodgers' side had collected early season victories against Ross County 4-2 and Aberdeen 3-1 respectively so the visitors will still be upbeat about their chances against ‘Gers in this upcoming battle.

However, having collected just four wins from their last nine outings on their travels in all competitions, Celtic may just be here for the taking as last season's Premiership title winners have still yet to start firing on all cylinders.

Celtic have generally held the upper hand over Rangers in recent previous exchanges but it was Rangers who inflicted a heavy 3-0 defeat upon their fierce rivals in the last meeting between these two Scottish giants back in mid-May of last season and Michael Beale's side may sense that Celtic are here for the taking once again with home advantage at Ibrox once more.
