Kilmarnock inflicted a 2-0 home win against St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Thursday night and in turn collected a third win in five games in the domestic top flight which has helped the hosts move further away from trouble down near the bottom of the table and into eighth place.

Ross County also gained all three points in midweek with a surprise 2-1 win away from home at high-flying Aberdeen at Pittodrie which has given the visitors a bit of breathimg space and a seven-point cushion over bottom placed St Johnstone heading into Sunday's fixtures.

After having had to endure a tough and ultimately miserable five-match sequence in the Scottish top flight which consisted of being handed four defeats in the process (losing to the likes of Dundee, Celtic, St Johnstone and Rangers), Kilmarnock have staged a recovery as the hosts have suffered just one further loss in their subsequent six games overall.

That loss came in the form of a 1-0 defeat away from home against an improving Hibernian outfit but nevertheless, Killie have also picked up three important wins within these previous six games as well.

Important victories against Hearts, Aberdeen and St Mirren, all of which have been registered at their BBSP Stadium Rugby Park, will give Derek McInnes's side plenty of confidence heading into this clash.

Ross County picked up a second win in three games in midweek when the Scottish Premiership strugglers caused something of an upset at Pittodrie by beating Aberdeen 2-1 but although the visitors still remain in 10th place in the Premiership table, they now possess a useful seven-point cushion above bottom placed St Johnstone.

An earlier 3-0 win away from home at Dundee also contributed to Ross County's current three-match unbeaten sequence in the Scottish top flight which also includes picking up a point in a 2-2 draw at home with Hearts as well.

However, league wins overall so far in this season's Premiership campaign have been hard to come by for Ross County as Don Cowie's side have managed to gain just five league wins so far this term within their 21 matches played to date, three of which have been achieved on home soil at their Global Energy Stadium.

Ross County have won their last two away games on the trot having recorded the aforementioned wins at Dundee and Aberdeen, but these have been Ross County's only highlights in an otherwise barren 27-match sequence on their travels.
