Dundee vs Rangers Preview

Dundee picked up a second win in three games in the Scottish top flight on Sunday when the upcoming hosts registered a welcome three points by way of a resounding 3-1 win away from home at St Johnstone which followed on from a recent 2-1 win on the road at St Mirren.

Rangers were unable to build upon their excellent 3-0 home win against Celtic in the recent Old Firm clash last time out in the Scottish Premiership when The ‘Gers were held to a disappointing 3-3 draw away from home at Hibernian and the visitors know they must pick up all three points here on Wednesday night if they are to apply any sort of pressure upon the league leaders.

Despite picking up two recent wins against the aforementioned St Johnstone and St Mirren, Dundee have also slipped to four defeats within their last six games overall in the Scottish top flight which have seen the upcoming hosts handed defeats by the likes of Hearts, Rangers, Ross County and Dundee United, the latter being in the recent Dundee derby.

Dundee currently occupy eighth place in the Scottish Premiership table and the hosts have managed to pick up just seven wins within their 21 matches played in total to date this term whilst being dealt 10 defeats in the process.

The goals market looks encouraging though as all 10 of Dundee's home games have resulted in Over 2.5 goals.

Rangers may have had to settle for a point away from home at Hibernian on Sunday but nevertheless, Rangers extended their unbeaten run to three games overall in the Scottish Premiership as the visitors have drawn twice and beaten Celtic within these previous three matches.

Philippe Clement's side have been dealt just four defeats throughout this season's Premiership campaign whilst collecting a total of 12 wins along the way should still give Rangers plenty of confidence that they can return to winning ways at The Scot Foam Stadium at Dens Park on Thursday night.

However, each of Rangers' four defeats so far this season have been incurred on their travels with losses at Celtic, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and St Mirren respectively and these suggest the prospects of an away win here does seem to hang in the balance.

Goals have also featured though on a fairly regular basis away from home where Rangers have been concerned as six out of The ‘Gers 10 outings on the road have resulted in Over 2.5 goals being scored.
