Newly-promoted side, Falkirk, will be keen to get their new Scottish Championship campaign off to a winning start on Friday night in this season's curtain-raiser at the Falkirk Stadium when they play host to Queen's Park who narrowly avoided the dreaded relegation play-off at the end of last season, finishing just one point above the second from bottom finishers, Inverness CT.

It was a triumphant campaign in the Scottish League One in last season's domestic third tier as Falkirk not only finished top of the League One table but the hosts claimed the title by a significant and impressive 16-point cushion over runners-up, Hamilton Academical.

Important victories against Arbroath 5-0 and a 2-0 home win against Airdrie helped seal Queen's Park's second tier status for another season but the visitors face a tricky outing to the Falkirk Stadium in this opening game of the new season on Friday night.

Nevertheless, Callum Davidson's side will still fancy their chances of getting something out of this upcoming trip to face new boys Falkirk as they have slipped to just three defeats in their last 11 matches in the Championship, two of which were actually on home soil at Hampden Park.

Losses at home to Dundee United and Inverness CT were outweighed by wins against Arbroath in home and away wins, along with victories against Ayr United and the aforementioned Airdrie, while a successful group campaign in this season's League Cup will also serve as a welcome boost.

Queen's Park finished runners-up behind Group C winners, Aberdeen, thanks to wins against Peterhead, Elgin City and Kelty Hearts which has also sent the visitors into the 2nd round.
