Heerenveen halted a previously miserable five-match winless run in the Dutch top flight last weekend with a solid and most welcome 2-0 win away from home at Heracles which helped the hosts up into a mid-table position of 10th place in the Eredivisie table while PSV continued on their merry way as the league leaders registered a comprehensive 6-0 home win against Vitesse to give them a nine-point lead at the top of the division.

Heerenveen had previously been handed defeats by the likes of NEC, Feyenoord and Utrecht respectively whilst picking up points in draws with RKC Waalwijk and Twente which have kept the hosts from dropping further down into the lower half of the Eredivisie table.

However, the bigger picture shows Heerenveen have struggled to pick up league wins on a consistent basis in recent times as Kees van Wonderen's side have managed to capture just four wins from their last 16 games overall in the domestic top flight which were collected against Ajax, Volendam, PEC Zwolle and Heracles but the hosts have also slipped to seven defeats within this 16-game period as well.

Previous wins against Excelsior and a 5-1 thrashing of AZ Alkmaar will give PSV every reason to be confident about their chances of claiming all three points in this upcoming encounter while the bigger picture shows Peter Bosz's side have slipped to just the one defeat throughout the whole of this season's Eredivisie campaign in what has been an excellent season for the visitors.
