Roma slumped to a second defeat on the trot in the Italian top flight over the weekend as the upcoming hosts were handed a heavy 5-1 thrashing away from home at Fiorentina, while Torino halted a three-match losing streak when they recorded a welcome 1-0 home win against Como.

Roma have now dropped down to 11th place in the Serie A table as a result of that poor result on the road at Fiorentina on the weekend, so needless to say that Ivan Juric and his side will be desperate to return to winning ways on Thursday night.

However, this may be easier said than done as Roma have managed to capture just two wins from their opening nine games of this new domestic top flight campaign which came in the shape of victories gained over Udinese and Venezia respectively, but they have also been dealt three losses in the early stages of this new campaign as well.

Losses at the hands of Empoli 2-1 at home along with the recent defeats to Inter Milan and the aforementioned 5-1 walloping at Fiorentina suggest this upcoming clash against Torino on Thursday evening may not be so straightforward, despite holding home advantage at their Stadio Olimpico.

The bigger picture shows Roma have picked up just three wins from their last 14 matches in Serie A but the prospect of both teams scoring looks appealing as nine of these 14 games have seen both teams hit the back of the net (64.3%).

Torino put an end to a previously worrying three-match losing streak in the domestic top flight last weekend when they registered a welcome 1-0 home win against Como and the visitors will be hoping they can make it back-to-back wins in Serie A when they make their way to the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday night.

Previous defeats at the hands of Lazio 3-2, Inter Milan 3-2 and Cagliari 3-2 had resulted in Torino dropping down the Serie A table but the victory over the weekend will give Torino renewed confidence ahead of this midweek fixture.

The visitors had previously produced an encouraging and positive start to this new Serie A season as Paolo Vanoli's side had put together a solid looking five-match unbeaten sequence which consisted of three wins and two draws.
