Verona headed into the international break with a welcome three points gained by way of a 2-1 home win against Venezia which halted a previously miserable three-match losing streak, while Monza's winless start to this new Serie A season continued when the visitors drew 1-1 at home with Roma before the break.

Verona currently occupy a mid-table position of 12th place in the Italian top flight table having collected three wins so far in this new campaign which includes earlier wins captured against the likes of Napoli 3-0 and a 2-0 win on the road at Genoa, together with the aforementioned 2-1 victory over Venezia.
