Dundalk vs Sligo Rovers Preview

Dundalk suffered a 1-0 defeat away from home at the Irish Premier Division league leaders Shelbourne last Friday but although Dundalk now return to the more familiar surroundings of their Oriel Park, results overall this season have been largely disappointing, while Sligo Rovers were also handed a defeat last week which came in the shape of a resounding 4-1 defeat away from home at Waterford.

Indeed, Dundalk currently occupy the bottom place in the Irish Premier Division having managed to capture just three wins in total to date so far in this season's campaign which have been registered against the likes of Bohemians, Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick's Athletic respectively but the hosts have also been dealt no fewer than 10 defeats within their total of 20 matches played to date.

Victories against the likes of St Patrick's Athletic, Shelbourne and Drogheda United have been overshadowed by six losses within this period which includes four defeats handed out to John Russell's side on their travels which have been in the form of losses at St Patrick's Athletic, Shamrock Rovers, Drogheda United and Waterford respectively, which does not bode well for this upcoming clash.

In addition, the bigger picture shows Sligo Rovers have registered just these three wins in their previous 21 outings on the road while also being handed 13 losses so the prospects of an away win here seem pretty slim.

Five of Sligo Rovers's last 10 outings on their travels have also produced goals for both teams and this option looks to have a chance of coming in here.
