Freiburg had to make do with just a point in last weekend's German Bundesliga action as they were held to a 1-1 draw away from home at Hoffenheim which resulted in the upcoming Friday night's hosts to drop down to seventh place in the domestic top flight table.

Wolfsburg extended their winning streak to four games in the German top flight with a 4-3 home win against Mainz which in turn also extended their overall unbeaten run to six games as the visitors climbed up into fifth place ahead of this weekend's action.

Freiburg have now managed to chalk up just one win from their last six games overall in recent weeks in the Bundesliga which came courtesy of a 3-1 home win against Borussia M'gladbach but this period also includes losses incurred against the likes of RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund as well.

Three stalemates with Mainz, Union Berlin and Hoffenheim in 0-0, 0-0 and 1-1 draws respectively have not been enough to prevent Freiburg from falling down the table to seventh place but they still find themselves level on points with their upcoming visitors, Wolfsburg.

The bigger picture shows Freiburg have managed to capture just four wins from their previous 14 home games at their Europa-Park Stadion, slipping to five defeats as well.

Wolfsburg will no doubt be eyeing off a fifth straight win in the German Bundesliga on Friday night when they make their way to the Europa-Park Stadion and the visitors know another three points here would see them draw level on points with fourth placed RB Leipzig and the Champions League spots.

Ralph Hasenhüttl's side have previously accounted for the likes of Heidenheim, Union Berlin, RB Leipzig and Mainz respectively, and given Freiburg's very modest looking record at home in the domestic top flight, the visitors will fancy their chances here on Friday night.

Wolfsburg had previously produced a stuttering start to this season's Bundesliga campaign as the visitors had collected just two wins from their opening seven games overall whilst also being handed four defeats as well.
