Freiburg's winless run in the German Bundesliga was extended to five games following last weekend's 2-1 defeat away from home at Augsburg which has resulted in the home side dropping down the domestic top flight table to ninth place while Bayern Munich bounced back from two defeats on the trot with a 2-1 home win against RB Leipzig but the visitors still find themselves eight points behind the league leaders, Bayer Leverkusen.

To make matters worse for Freiburg, the hosts have been dealt four defeats within these last five winless matches in the Bundesliga after being handed losses by the likes of Werder Bremen, Stuttgart, Borussia Dortmund and Augsburg while their only temporary relief came in the shape of a 3-3 draw at home with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The bigger picture shows Freiburg have managed to capture just four wins from their last 15 matches overall which have been achieved with victories over Mainz, Wolfsburg, FC Cologne and Hoffenheim but this sequence also includes being handed seven defeats as well which have overshadowed their modest success.

Bayern Munich and manager Thomas Tuchel would have been mightily relieved following last week's 2-1 home win against RB Leipzig as the visitors had previously suffered back-to-back defeats in the German top flight at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen and Bochum respectively, which has turned up the heat on the German manager.

However, despite last week's win, Bayern Munich are still eight points behind the league leaders and one wonders if the two recent defeats might have just sealed their fate in terms of challenging for this season's Bundesliga title with just 11 matches of the season remaining.

The usual German champions have been dealt four defeats so far this season, three of which have been inflicted upon Tuchel's side on their travels with losses incurred at Eintracht Frankfurt along with the aforementioned Bayer Leverkusen and Bochum results as well.

Although we are seeing a different Bayern Munich outfit this season, the fact remains that the visitors still pose a serious threat in front of goal in the shape of striker Harry Kane who has plundered a total of 27 goals so far this season and further goals could be on the cards here on Friday night.
