Monaco vs PSG Preview

Monaco and PSG will face off at the Stade Louis-II on Wednesday night in what will be the final league match in the French Ligue 1 of 2024 as the domestic top flight season will resume in early January, with Monaco looking to return to winning ways while PSG will be eager to extend their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table to 10 points with a win here.

Monaco currently occupy third place in the French top flight where they hold a three-point cushion above fourth placed Lille heading into this midweek encounter but having managed to pick up just one win from their last five matches in all competitions, Monaco look to be far from a guaranteed positive result here at the Stade Louis-II.

The hosts have managed just a 2-0 home win over Toulouse in recent weeks in all competitions whilst also being dealt damaging losses at the hands of Benfica and Arsenal in the Champions League along with a 2-1 defeat away from home at Marseille in the domestic Ligue 1.

Indeed, results on the domestic front have taken a turn for the worse in recent times as Monaco have managed to register just three wins from their last eight matches overall in Ligue 1 along with suffering three losses as well.

PSG maintained their unbeaten status in the French top flight over the weekend when the Paris based club recorded a pretty straightforward 3-1 home win against Lyon which in turn has given the visitors a seven-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

PSG last tased defeat in Ligue 1 towards the end of the previous domestic top flight campaign following a surprise 3-1 defeat at home to Toulouse but that has been PSG's only slip-up in their previous 44 games overall.

The visitors look to be strengthening their grip on top spot in this season's Ligue 1 campaign once again as Luis Enrique's side still remain the only unbeaten team throughout the whole of Ligue 1 and although they face an away trip in this final game of 2024, PSG still look to be in the driving seat.

However, PSG have drawn three out of their last five outings on the road in Ligue 1 following stalemates at Reims, Nice and Auxerre in 1-1, 1-1 and 0-0 draws respectively, while the previous meeting at the Stade Louis-II against Monaco also ended in a 0-0 stalemate as well.
