Monaco ended a previously worrying three-game winless run in the French top flight just before the international break when the upcoming hosts registered a useful 3-1 win away from home at Strasbourg, while Brest succumbed to a second defeat on the trot in Ligue 1 last time out when they suffered a heavy 3-1 loss at Montpellier.

Monaco had previously failed to win any of their preceding three games overall in Ligue 1 after a 0-0 draw at home with Lille and then being dealt back-to-back defeats at the hands of Nice and Angers respectively.
