Lens continued their unbeaten start to this new French top flight season last time out with a point gained on the road with a 1-1 draw at Monaco which has lifted Lens up into an early fifth place position in the Ligue 1 table, while Lyon picked up all three points in a high-scoring seven-goal thriller, beating Strasbourg 4-3 at home following two defeats on the trot.

Lens have produced a solid start to this new domestic top flight season by picking up back-to-back wins against Angers and Brest by way of 1-0 and 2-0 victories respectively along with that solid point gained on the road at Monaco and these results have been built upon an encouraging finish to last season's campaign.

Lyon began their new domestic top flight campaign in disastrous fashion as the visitors were dealt early back-to-back defeats at the hands of Rennes and Monaco but the visitors at least steadied the ship before the international break by recording a welcome 4-3 home win against Strasbourg.

The visitors had finished last season's campaign in promising fashion as they collected four wins on the trot to sign off their season in style, picking up wins against Monaco, Lille, Clermont and Strasbourg which earned Lyon a final sixth place finish in the French top flight table.

However, the two early defeats this term suggest Lyon may find it tough going on the road at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis when they come up against a solid and well organised Lens outfit especially as the visitors have conceded a total of eight goals within their opening three games of this season.

Nevertheless, Lyon have still registered seven wins out of their last nine outings on the road and this sort for form on their travels will give Pierre Sage's side plenty of confidence as they prepare for this upcoming trip on Sunday evening.
