Wolves vs Brighton Preview

Wolves will try again to get themselves off the mark in this season's Premier League campaign on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Brighton at Molineux after being robbed of a chance to at least level the scores away from home at Manchester United on Monday night.

Wolves were denied a clear and blatant penalty when Manchester United goalkeeper, Onana, clattered into a Wolves player when attempting to gather the ball from a cross, and such was the obvious nature of the incident that as a result, the referee and VAR staff on duty have all been stood down for this weekend's fixtures in the English top flight.

This doesn't help Wolves but manager, Gary O'Neil, will have certainly been pleased with his side's endeavour and attacking threat when they went forward which gives the hosts plenty of belief for this upcoming clash with Brighton.

The west midlands club will be desperate to end a four-match winless run in the Premier League then this Saturday after losing three of their last four games, but form and results at Molineux have at least been positive; the hosts have won four out of their last five games, picking up wins against Chelsea, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively.

Brighton by contrast enjoyed their opening day fixture against the newcomers, Luton Town, as The Seagulls dismantled The Hatters at their AMEX Stadium with a comprehensive 4-1 victory to hand Brighton all three points to get them off to a great start to this new campaign.

Roberto de Zerbi's side were the highest over-achievers of last season as Brighton finished in sixth place in the Premier League standings and claiming a place in this season's Europa League for the very first time in their club's history.

Despite recording some inconsistent results towards the end of last season which included defeats to Everton, Newcastle United and Aston Villa, Brighton managed to cling onto one of the European spots thanks to their solid form on home soil which saw the south coast club slip to just five defeats all season.

However, results away from home were less convincing as Brighton stumbled to four defeats in their final six outings on the road, suffering losses at Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and Aston Villa, while achieving just three clean sheets from their 19 away games last season.

Despite being dealt what proved to be a harsh 1-0 loss at Old Trafford on Monday night, there were still plenty of positives from Wolves' performance as they outplayed United for the majority of the match and showed dangerous attacking threat when going forward which may well pay dividends against a Brighton side who have struggled to keep clean sheets.
