Tottenham vs Burnley Preview

Tottenham were dealt another defeat in the Premier League last weekend when they lost 4-2 away from home at Anfield against Liverpool and although Spurs now return to their Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Saturday's clash against lowly Burnley, the north London club now need to win all of their remaining three games if they're to have any chance of overhauling Aston Villa into fourth spot and a place in next season's Champions League.

Previous defeat at the hands of Newcastle United, Arsenal and Chelsea have contributed to a worrying spell of defeats in the Premier League for Ange Postecoglou's side and the need to keep picking up points has become even greater with the likes of sixth placed Newcastle United just four points adrift of Tottenham but now building some impressive momentum.

Prior to this four-match losing streak in the top flight, Tottenham had put together a decent sequence of results which saw the north-London hosts suffer just two defeats within a 12-game period which were dealt to them by Wolves and Fulham but Spurs also picked up seven wins within this period which included wins on home soil against Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Luton Town and Nottingham Forest respectively.

The visit of Burnley should therefore be something of a formality for Tottenham.

Burnley's recent comeback in the English top flight was dealt a heavy blow last weekend when The Clarets were handed a heavy 4-1 thrashing at home against Newcastle United but Vincent Kompany's side are still scrapping for Premier League survival and could make life difficult for Tottenham this Saturday afternoon.
