Southampton's winless run in the Premier League was extended to seven games overall on the weekend despite picking up a point in a creditable 1-1 draw away from home at Fulham, but nevertheless the south coast outfit still remain firmly rooted at the bottom of the table.

West Ham also gained a point in a 1-1 draw at home with Brighton which saw The Hammers pick up five points from their last three games under manager Lopetegui thanks to a previous win and a draw, leaving West Ham still sitting in 14th place in the Premier League table.

The Saints find themselves eight points adrift of fourth from bottom club Leicester City and safety ahead of this important Boxing Day fixture at St Mary's Stadium and the hosts' poor performances and results has already resulted in a managerial casualty as former boss Russell Martin was shown the exit door recently.

West Ham will be hoping they can build upon recent valuable points gained in the Premier League when they make their way down to the south coast to take on a beleaguered Southampton outfit who have failed to win any of their previous seven games.

A 2-1 home win against Wolves has been boosted by picking up points in draws with Bournemouth and Brighton and given Southampton's poor results in recent times, The Hammers will fancy their chances of further adding to their points tally here on Boxing Day.

The visitors haven't exactly set the world alight on their travels though in recent weeks in the Premier League, collecting just one win from their last seven away games but nevertheless one win is better than no wins at all and having beaten Newcastle United 2-0 on the road recently, West Ham perhaps look the more likely to take the spoils here.
