Two of the early struggling teams in the Premier League will go head-to-head down on the south coast when Saturday afternoon's hosts, Southampton, will take on Ipswich Town at St Marys Stadium with just two points separating the two sides who have also yet to register their first win of this new Premier League campaign.

Southampton currently occupy second from bottom position in the early Premier League standings as the hosts have produced a disastrous return to the English top flight, losing each of their opening four games on the trot and sitting level on zero points apiece with Everton.

The Tractor Boys had also suffered a losing start upon their long-awaited return to the big time as Kieran McKenna's side were dealt early back-to-back losses at the hands of Liverpool and Manchester City but recent results will serve as a welcome boost for Ipswich Town.

The bigger picture shows Ipswich Town have been far from convincing though as the visitors have managed to capture just four wins from their last 14 matches overall in all competitions while also being handed five defeats as well, so if the visitors are going to post their opening win of the season on the road this Saturday, previous results suggest it will likely be by a very slim margin!

These two sides last met in the Premier League all the way back in March 2002 when Southampton registered a 3-1 win away from home at Portman Road but the previous meeting overall resulted in a 3-2 home win for Ipswich Town.
