Manchester United vs Burnley Preview

Manchester United registered a welcome 4-1 home win against the bottom club Sheffield United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night which helped the Red Devils up into sixth place in the Premier League standings, while Burnley also recorded a 4-1 win away from home against Sheffield United last time out in the English top flight so both teams will be eager to record back-to-back wins here on Saturday afternoon.

That win against Sheffield United though is only a second win from their last eight games in the English top flight for Erik ten Hag's side which also included an earlier win against Everton 2-0 at home but losses to Fulham, Manchester City and Chelsea have prevented the hosts from making in-roads into the top five pack and they still trail fifth placed Tottenham by a seven-point margin.

Burnley recorded a welcome 4-1 win away from home at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United last weekend as Vincent Kompany's side still continue to fight bravely against possible relegation but a previous 2-1 home win against Brentford along with picking up points in draws with West Ham, Chelsea, Wolves and Brighton have handed The Clarets a vital lifeline.

Following a disastrous sequence of results previously in the Premier League which saw Burnley slump to a nine-game winless spell in the top flight which included slipping to seven defeats in the process, Burnley have since staged what could prove to be a decisive recovery in the scheme of things.

The Clarets have been dealt just one further loss in their last seven games overall which came in the form of a narrow 1-0 loss away at Everton but the aforementioned wins and four draws suggest the visitors are not dead and buried just yet.

However, having managed to capture just three wins on the road so far throughout this season's Premier League campaign along with being handed no fewer than 10 defeats within their 17 away games, Burnley do look to have their work cut out ahead of Saturday's trip to Old Trafford, especially as Burnley have conceded in each of their last 16 games overall.
