Liverpool vs West Ham Preview

Liverpool will be seeking a fifth league win on the trot in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon when they play host to West Ham at Anfield as The Reds look to build upon their promising start to this new domestic top flight season.

An opening day point away from home at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea in a 1-1 draw saw The Reds get off the mark in solid fashion but Jurgen Klopp's side have since shifted through the gears by recording a four-match winning streak which consists of wins against Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Wolves respectively, so Liverpool will be in confident mood ahead of Sunday's clash.

As a result of this winning momentum, Liverpool find themselves in third place in the Premier League standings and just two points behind the league leaders, Manchester City, prior to this weekend's top flight action, while the bigger picture shows Liverpool are now unbeaten in their last 16 matches overall in the Premier League.

Having picked up 11 wins in the process during this 16-match sequence, Liverpool look in good shape to take the three points in this encounter.

West Ham have also made a reasonable start to their new Premier League campaign albeit on a little more modest scale as The Hammers have picked up three wins from their opening five league matches and gained a point in a draw away from Bournemouth on the opening day of the season.

The London club collected three wins on the trot after the 1-1 draw at Bournemouth as David Moyes' side registered important victories against Chelsea, Brighton and Luton Town but they were unable to maintain this momentum as they were dealt a 3-1 defeat at home to Manchester City last weekend.

Nevertheless, it has been an encouraging start to this new season for West Ham and they will be keen to bounce back from that home defeat to City when they make their way up to merseyside for this Sunday afternoon encounter at Anfield.

However, results away from home for West Ham have been more sporadic than consistent for Moyes' side as they have managed to capture just four wins out of their last 20 outings on their travels in the English top flight which also includes succumbing to no fewer than 12 defeats in the process which does not bode well for this upcoming clash against an in-form Liverpool outfit.

Liverpool v West Ham Verdict

Previous meetings between Liverpool and West Ham have generally gone in Liverpool's favour as The Reds have won seven out of the last eight meetings and this trend looks set to continue here on Sunday, although the price of a straight win for Liverpool is extremely slim.

Four of the previous six meetings though have resulted in Under 3.5 goals scored.

Therefore, our main bet will be Under 3.5 goals @ 1.80

Other side bets worth considering:

Liverpool win & Under 3.5 goals @ 2.75

Correct score: Liverpool 2-0 @ 10.00
