Liverpool had to settle for a point in last weekend's season opener against Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge which actually became Liverpool's third draw on the trot in the English top flight, but The Reds will be looking to go one step better at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool ended last season with back-to-back draws against Aston Villa and Southampton which were part of a solid sequence of results for Jurgen Klopp's side as they put together an eleven-match unbeaten run which saw the merseyside club finish in fifth place in the standings.

Bournemouth owe a debt of gratitude to former manager, Gary O'Neil, as he guided The Cherries to Premier League safety towards the end of last season's campaign as his former side registered four wins in a five-game period which consisted of victories over Leicester City, Tottenham, Southampton and Leeds United.

However, O'Neil was unable to prevent Bournemouth from losing their final four matches of last season on the trot, suffering losses against Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Manchester United and Everton, and perhaps this disappointing finish to the campaign set off a few alarm bells amongst Bournemouth's board.

O'Neil has since moved on to Wolves and has been replaced by Andoni Iraola, who oversaw Bournemouth's first point of the season in last weekend's 1-1 draw at home with West Ham but the general feeling is that Bournemouth's real work will begin on merseyside on Saturday afternoon at Anfield.

The bigger picture shows Bournemouth could be in further trouble at Liverpool this weekend as the south coast visitors have managed to register just four wins from their last 16 outings in the Premier League, a poor sequence of results that include no fewer than 10 defeats, while also failing to score in eight of these 16 matches as well.
