Leicester vs Spurs Preview

Leicester City made a swift return to the Premier League following automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of last season at the first time of asking and The Foxes will be keen to produce a winning start to this new top flight campaign here on Monday night, while Tottenham will also be eager to go one step better this time around after narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot.

At one point it looked like Leicester City would run away with the Championship title last season as The Foxes held a healthy lead over second placed Ipswich Town who had quickly established themselves as the major rivals to Leicester City, but Enzo Maresca's side only just sneaked the title by a slender one-point margin at the end of the season.

Tottenham finished in fifth place in last season's final Premier League standings as they were narrowly edged out by Aston Villa who claimed the last Champions League spot but there were plenty of positives for Ange Postecoglou's side as they seek a return to Champions League football this term.

However, Spurs will need to improve upon their results from towards the end of the last campaign in this new season as the north London club managed to pick up just two wins in their final seven games of the campaign, which came in the form of wins against relegated Burnley and Sheffield United, while also being dealt five defeats as well.

Losses to the likes of Newcastle United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City respectively perhaps show Tottenham still have a way to go in terms of challenging for a top four spot this term, while results away from home were also a concern.

Indeed, Tottenham managed to capture just two wins in their previous 10 outings on the road but it's worth mentioning that one of these away wins came in the shape a 4-0 rout of Aston Villa at Villa Park, so Tottenham are definitely capable of producing impressive displays on the road in the English top flight.
