Ipswich Town were dealt a second defeat on the trot in the Premier League last weekend when the Tractor Boys fell victim to a heavy 4-1 loss away from home at the current title holders Manchester City, while Fulham registered a valuable 2-1 home win against another promoted side from last season's Championship, Leicester City, at Craven Cottage.

Following the euphoria of clinching automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of last season along with not only recording back-to-back promotions but making a long-awaited return to the English top flight after a 22-year absence, Ipswich Town have been brought back down to earth in no uncertain fashion.

It must be said that Keiran McKenna's side have been given the worst possible opening fixtures in this season's Premier League campaign by the fixture computer as the Suffolk outfit have lost 2-0 at home to Liverpool followed by last weekend's 4-1 thrashing at Manchester City which was made worse by some naive defending.

Fulham finished last season's Premier League campaign in a satisfactory 13th place in the top flight table under manager Marco Silva and The Cottagers ensured they were nowhere near the relegation trap-door at the end of last term as the London club finished some 21 points above third from bottom club Luton Town.

For now, avoiding relegation and gaining a foothold in the lower half of the table with a view to a possible mid-table finish continues to be Fulham's main objective this season and although The Cottagers were handed a narrow 1-0 defeat away from home against Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening evening of the top flight season, Marco Silva's side bounced back with a welcome 2-1 home win against Leicester City last weekend.

Fulham have produced a mixed bag of results in recent times in the domestic top flight as the visitors have captured just three wins in their last 10 games while also being handed five defeats in the process but previous experience at this level should set the visitors apart from their hosts in this one.
