Following two away games on the trot which yielded just a single point, Fulham will no doubt be eager to return to the more familiar surroundings of their Craven Cottage for this Saturday lunchtime date with Manchester United with both sides keen to improve their fortunes in the Premier League after some disappointing results lately.

Fulham were handed a 2-0 defeat away from home at London rivals, Tottenham, before picking up a valuable point in a 1-1 draw away from home at the AMEX Stadium with Brighton, so The Cottagers will be looking forward to being on home soil where they'll be seeking to take advantage of a wobbling Manchester United outfit.

Fulham have dropped down to 14th place in the Premier League table which is probably a true reflection as to how their top flight season has gone so far, especially as they are without the services of their former talismanic striker, Alexandre Mitrovic, but having picked up three wins to date, Fulham look to be at least holding their own so far this season.

Wins against Everton, Luton Town and Sheffield United have seen Fulham get the better of teams below them in the table and has kept Marco Silva's side safe for the time being but this upcoming visit from Manchester United could prove to be tricky for the hosts.

Onto Manchester United, and it's been a case of one step forward, two steps back for Erik ten Hag's side so far this season as the Red Devils were handed a straightforward 3-0 defeat at home by their noisy neighbours, Manchester City, in Sunday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Although Manchester United ended last season's Premier League campaign with a flourish as the Red Devils collected four wins on the trot to sign off in style by picking up wins against Wolves, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Fulham, the latter being a 2-1 win at Old Trafford, the visitors have produced an inconsistent start to this new campaign, picking up five wins but also being handed five defeats as well, within their opening 10 games.

Inconsistent results have also unfolded on their travels as well, but the visitors have at least won their last two away games on the trot where they recorded wins on the road at Burnley and Sheffield United, and these recent victories should give ten Hag's side plenty of confidence in getting a positive result in this lunchtime encounter at Craven Cottage.

Despite Manchester United's inconsistency, Fulham still face a tough challenge if they're to contain their visitors here this Saturday especially as United have won six of the last seven meetings against The Cottagers.
