Fulham opened their account on the opening weekend of this season's Premier League with an impressive 1-0 win away from home at Goodison Park against Everton and The Cottagers will now return to the more familiar surroundings of Craven Cottage for this upcoming clash against Brentford in what is an all-London encounter on the banks of the Thames.

Despite being amongst the favourites to be battling against relegation at the start of last season's campaign, Fulham produced an excellent season last term and The Cottagers fully deserved their top half of the table finish at the end of the season, as the hosts ended up in a creditable 10th place in the Premier league standings.

Although the bigger picture shows Fulham managed to pick up just four wins out of their last 14 matches of the top flight, nevertheless, victories collected against the likes of Everton (at home), Leeds United, Leicester City and Southampton managed to maintain Fulham's top half position in the division.

Results and form at home were fairly inconsistent where Fulham were concerned and this was reflected in their final home record which read eight wins, five draws and six defeats but this does include an early season 3-2 win at home against Brentford.

Onto Brentford and they shared the spoils in last week's season opener against Tottenham in what was a lively affair with both teams picking up a point in a 2-2 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium but this result will have been a satisfactory outcome for The Bees.

Brentford continued to defy the critics last season as Thomas Frank's side produced a solid finish of 9th place in the final table and ended up seven points above their upcoming London hosts, Fulham, which was thanks to a promising finish to the end of last season's campaign.

The Bees collected five wins from their final six games of last term which saw them register important victories over Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, West Ham, Tottenham and most impressive of all, a 1-0 home win over the title winners, Manchester City.

The bigger picture though shows Brentford have managed to capture just five win from their last 13 league matches in the English top flight, while eight of these 13 games resulted in Under 2.5 goals.

Goals have also been in short supply in Brentford's away games in recent times as well, as eight of The Bees' last 10 outings on their travels have produced two goals or less.

Fulham have won both of the previous two meetings at home against their London rivals, Brentford, in what have both been entertaining affairs with both fixtures ending in 3-2 wins for The Cottagers, but this upcoming tussle may produce a lower goal-count this time around.
