Everton's winless run in the Premier League was extended to five games overall on the weekend when The Toffees were dealt a heavy 4-0 thrashing by Manchester United at Old Trafford but although Everton return to the home surroundings of their Goodison Park, the merseyside club have managed to collect just two wins so far this season.

Wolves dropped back down into the relegation zone in the Premier League table following a 4-2 loss at home to Bournemouth on the weekend, so the west midlands club will be desperate to revert back to the form which brought them a four-match unbeaten sequence beforehand on Tuesday night.

Everton had also previously been dealt a disappointing 1-0 defeat down on the south coast at the hands of fellow strugglers Southampton although The Toffees did manage to pick up useful points in the shape of three draws with the likes of Fulham, West Ham and Brentford respectively.

The wider picture shows league wins have been hard to come by for Sean Dyche's side as Everton have managed to claim just two victories in their previous 14 games overall in the English top flight which came in the form of rare wins against Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town this season.

Wolves were unable to capture a third league win on the trot in the Premier League on the weekend as the west midlands club were dealt a 4-2 loss on home soil by Bournemouth which also dumped the visitors back into the bottom three places in the division.

Wolves had previously registered useful and vitally important wins against Southampton and Fulham respectively which were part of a four-match unbeaten sequence which also consisted of picking up points in draws with Brighton and Crystal Palace as well.

The west midlands visitors had produced a horrific start to this season's Premier League campaign though as Gary O'Neil's side had slumped to no fewer than seven defeats within their opening eight games of the new term, three of which were inflicted upon Wolves on their travels.
