With both Everton and Bournemouth both occupying positions in the lower reaches of the Premier League table and just one point separating the two sides, this upcoming clash at Goodison Park has something of an early dress rehearsal for a potential relegation battle as both teams look like having a long and tough season ahead of them.

Everton have at least managed to capture a win so far in this season's Premier League campaign which came in the form of a slightly unexpected 3-1 win away from home at 14th placed Brentford but a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United away at Bramall Lane has been Everton's only real highlight so far this term.

Five defeats at the hands of the likes of Fulham, Aston Villa, Wolves, Arsenal and most disappointing of all, newcomers Luton Town, have contributed to another difficult start to this new season for Sean Dyche's side.

All four points that Everton have managed to pick up thus far have also been earned on their travels while results on home soil at Goodison Park have been disastrous as The Toffees have lost each of their opening four home games on the trot and this doesn't fill one with much confidence when looking at Everton in the straight win markets.

Saturday's visitors, Bournemouth, have fared even worse than hosts Everton so far in the early weeks of this new Premier League season as The Cherries are still looking to pick up their first win of this new term as the south coast club have drawn three and lost four of their opening seven games.

Points collected by way of draws with West Ham, Brentford and Chelsea would usually have been considered solid results for the visitors but four defeats being handed to them by Liverpool, Tottenham, Brighton and Arsenal have far outweighed Bournemouth's minimal successes to date.

Having been handed a tough opening set of fixtures away from home this season in the shape of trips to Liverpool, Brentford and Brighton respectively, Bournemouth will feel upbeat about their chances of securing a result this time on the road when they make their way up to merseyside to take on an equally struggling Everton outfit.

This is certainly a fixture that neither Everton or Bournemouth will want to lose as both sides potentially risk being cast adrift in the Premier League table, and therefore this upcoming clash at Goodison Park is difficult to predict in terms of selecting a clear winner.

Goals (or rather, lack of) looks a promising option though for this clash as Everton (six goals) and Bournemouth (five goals) have managed to cobble together a total of just 11 goals between them so far this season and this could contribute to a low-scoring game here.
