Crystal Palace were handed a 1-0 defeat down on the south coast at Bournemouth on Tuesday night which in turn extended their winless run in the Premier League to four games and has resulted in The Eagles remaining in 14th place in the table, while Manchester City dismantled fourth placed Aston Villa on Wednesday night as Pep Guardiola's inflicted a comprehensive 4-1 win at home over the west midlands club.

Recent defeats for Palace against the likes of Tottenham and Bournemouth in 3-1 and 1-0 losses along with draws against Luton Town and Nottingham Forest have prevented the London hosts from pulling themselves further away from the relegation zone but despite picking up just the one win from their previous eight games overall, Crystal Palace still possess a useful looking eight-point cushion above the bottom three clubs.

The bigger picture doesn't make for particularly encouraging reading though for palace fans as Oliver Glasner's side have managed to capture just three wins from their last 19 games overall in the Premier League which came in the form of home wins against Brentford 3-1, Sheffield United 3-2 and a 3-0 victory over Burnley but also includes slipping to 10 defeats in the process.

Goals look set to feature though as seven of Crystal Palace's last 10 home games have resulted in Over 2.5 goals.

Manchester City still remain in third place in the Premier League table following their resounding 4-1 romp against Aston Villa at the Etihad stadium on Wednesday night but the visitors still trail the current league leaders Liverpool ahead of this weekend's action in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, Manchester City are now unbeaten in their last 15 matches overall in the English top flight and having collected a total of 11 wins within this dominant period of results, it seems only a matter of time before Pep Guardiola's side take over the reins at the top of the Premier League table.

The bigger picture paints a very familiar story as the top flight season progresses to the ‘business end' of the campaign as Manchester City have suffered just the one defeat out of their previous 22 games overall which came in the form of a 1-0 defeat away from home at Aston Villa back in early December.

Having now embarked upon a 15-game unbeaten run, the visitors are priced as outright favourites in the win markets for this upcoming clash at Selhurst Park but goals are always likely when Manchester City are involved and indeed, six of City's last 10 away games have produced three goals or more.
