Brighton will be eager to repeat their recent 2-1 win against Chelsea in the 4th round of the FA Cup when The Seagulls play host to Chelsea again on Friday night, this time in the Premier League, as the south coast hosts look to avoid a third league defeat on the trot when the two sides meet at the AMEX Stadium.

Chelsea have been involved in a mixed bag of results in recent times in all competitions lately as The Blues were handed an early exit from the FA Cup to Brighton last weekend while wins in the English top flight against Wolves and West Ham have helped maintain the London club's ambitions of achieving a possible fourth place finish in the Premier League.

In the domestic top flight, Brighton have slipped to two defeats on the trot in recent weeks as The Seagulls have suffered losses at the hands of Everton and Nottingham Forest, the latter being a particularly comprehensive 7-0 rout at the City Ground.

However, Chelsea have also been handed three defeats within this eight-game period after slipping to losses to the likes of Fulham, Ipswich Town and Manchester City but points picked up in draws with Everton, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth have helped Chelsea remain in fourth place in the Premier League table.

Nevertheless, Chelsea now have a chasing pack of teams comprising of Manchester City, Newcastle United and surprise package, Bournemouth, now hot on their heels so Chelsea cannot afford a defeat down on the south coast on Friday night.

Chelsea may have failed to win their last four away games in the domestic top flight but The Blues have suffered just three defeats within their previous 15 outings on the road whilst picking up eight wins in the process.

Chelsea have won five out of the last six meetings against Brighton and the London visitors perhaps have more at stake than their upcoming hosts on Friday night as Enzo Maresca's side look to consolidate their top four position.
