A basement battle near the foot of the Premier League table sees second from bottom side, Bournemouth, taking on third from bottom outfit, Burnley, when the two teams face each other at the Vitality Stadium down on the south coast in what could be called an early ‘six-pointer' with both teams keen to lift themselves out of the relegation zone with all three points here.

Bournemouth slumped to a fourth league defeat on the trot last weekend when they were handed a disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to Wolves which followed previous losses to Brighton, Arsenal and Everton, leaving The Cherries sitting second from bottom in the top flight table and two points adrift of safety ahead of this weekend's action.

Not only does Bournemouth's position in the Premier League table look precarious though, so does that of the hosts' manager, Andoni Iraola, as he has so far been unable to inspire his new team to victory this season, overseeing just three draws and six defeats with Bournemouth picking up a meagre three points from a possible 27 on offer.

The bigger picture shows Bournemouth have now failed to win any of their last 13 matches in the English top flight while also failing to win any of their previous seven games on home soil at their Vitality Stadium.

Burnley have only produced a marginally better start to this new Premier League season than that of their hosts as The Clarets sit one league position and one point above Bournemouth prior to this important basement battle down on the south coast on Saturday afternoon.

Unlike their hosts, Burnley have managed to register a league win so far this season in the domestic top flight which came in the form of a 2-1 win away from home at Luton Town but the Lancashire club have suffered seven defeats and have picked up just another point courtesy of a 1-1 draw away from home at Nottingham Forest.

With just one win under their belts from their last 13 league matches overall in the top flight, Burnley have also struggled to come to terms with this season's campaign so far although the visitors have at least picked up four points on their travels this term which gives them a chance of getting something at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

With both Bournemouth and Burnley struggling for form and results in the Premier League right now, this upcoming fixture may not be a pretty spectacle for the neutral as both sides will be desperate not to lose this one.
