Both Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have made reasonable starts to their respective Premier League campaigns as both teams occupy places in the top half of the division ahead of Saturday afternoon's clash at Villa Park with only one point separating the two clubs.

Aston Villa have won twice and lost twice in their opening four games of the new campaign and this mixed bag of results include a heavy 5-1 thrashing away from home at the hands of Newcastle United as well as a 3-0 loss away at Anfield against Liverpool, but in between these heavy defeats, Aston Villa have also picked up two important wins as well.

Despite this mixed start though, the bigger picture shows Villa have been fairly consistent in the Premier League under manager, Unai Emery, as the west midlands club have been handed just four defeats within their last 19 matches overall in the top flight.

Crystal Palace occupy seventh place in the Premier League standings and one point above their hosts prior to this upcoming tussle at Villa Park and this has been down to the fact that The Eagles have suffered just the one defeat in their opening four games of this new season.

That singular loss came in the form of a 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal but Roy Hodgson's side have collected wins against Sheffield United and Wolves along with a useful point in a draw away from home at Brentford in between the wins.

Palace have also produced a fairly consistent sequence of results in the Premier League as the London club have been dealt just three defeats out of their last 14 matches in the English top flight, two of which were away from home, along with picking up seven wins in the process.

However, the majority of Crystal Palace's successes have been achieved on home soil at Selhurst Park as four of these seven wins have been on their own patch, while results on the road have shown that the visitors have won just three of their last 13 outings on their travels.
