Aston Villa's winless run in the English top flight extended to five games overall on the weekend when the west midlands club faltered in a heavy 3-0 loss in the nation's capital away from home at Chelsea, leaving The Villans in a disappointing 12th place in the Premier League table.

Brentford made it two wins in three games in the Premier League on the weekend when The Bees recorded a 4-1 home win against Leicester City which followed a previous 3-2 home win against Bournemouth and given Villa's recent slump in form, the London club may well fancy their chances of a result at Villa Park on Wednesday night.

Despite picking up points in draws with Bournemouth and Crystal Palace in 1-1 and 2-2 stalemates, Unai Emery's side have also been dealt three defeats in recent weeks in the Premier League as well, slipping to defeats at the hands of Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.

These recent losses have resulted in Aston Villa dropping down the Premier League table to just below the mid-way point in 12th place but although they hold home advantage in the west midlands on Wednesday night, the hosts have managed to capture only one win in their last eight matches overall.

The bigger picture shows Aston Villa have registered just five wins from their previous 15 home games in the top flight but the goals market appeals here as nine out of Aston Villa's 13 games to date this term have resulted in both teams scoring.

After producing a slow start to this season's Premier League campaign which culminated in just two wins within their opening six matches overall, Brentford have since registered four wins from their subsequent seven games which have helped lift Thomas Frank's side up into the top half of the division in eighth place.

Only three points separate the London club from fifth placed Manchester City and the last of the European spots and having captured recent wins at the expense of Wolves, Ipswich Town, Bournemouth and Leicester City, The Bees might just sneak a result of some sort at Villa Park on Wednesday night.

However, the majority of Brentford's success so far this season has been achieved on home soil at their Gtech Community Stadium with all six wins claimed to date being produced in their own backyard, while results away from home have been a disaster.

Indeed, Brentford have lost five of their six away games so far this season so the straight win markets should be avoided but goals looks an attractive proposition as no fewer than 11 of Brentford's 13 games to date have resulted in both teams scoring.
