Cambridge United vs Reading Preview

Cambridge United and Reading will wrap up the weekend's League One action on Monday night when the two teams meet at Abbey Stadium with a valuable three points up for grabs for both sides.

Following a 2-0 defeat away from home at Leyton Orient last time out, Cambridge United will be keen to return to the more familiar surroundings of their Abbey Stadium after claiming two wins from their opening three games in their own backyard, while overall, The U's have won three of their five games to date so far in this season's League One campaign.

Despite slipping to a 2-1 loss at home to Stevenage, Cambridge United have picked up wins against Oxford United, Fleetwood Town and Bristol Rovers respectively which have outweighed the defeats and the hosts know that another three points here on Monday night would lift The U's up into the play-off pack.

Cambridge United avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth at the end of last season with only one point separating The U's from the bottom four clubs but they have made a much more solid start to this new season.

Having won five of their last seven league matches at Abbey Stadium in League One, Cambridge United look set to produce a positive display here.

Reading have not made the best of starts to this new League One season as The Royals continue to adapt to life back in the English third tier after a period of 21 years following relegation from the Championship at the end of last season's campaign.

Reading have picked up just two wins out of their opening five games of this new term which came in the form of victories over Cheltenham Town and Stevenage, both of which were achieved on home soil at their Select Car Leasing Stadium, while the visitors have also been dealt three defeats in the process.

Losses to Peterborough United, Port Vale and Exeter City have outweighed the highlights so far for the Berkshire club and as two of these three defeats were inflicted upon Ruben Selles' side on their travels, these do not bode well for this upcoming trip for Reading on Monday night.

In addition, Reading possess a very poor record of results away from home as The Royals have managed to register just one win from their last 17 outings on the road, slipping to 14 defeats in the process so the prospects of an away win here look very slim indeed, but the visitors should at least hit the back of the net in this encounter.
