Birmingham vs Wrexham Preview

After suffering relegation down from the Championship at the end of what was a torrid and tumultuous season, Birmingham City have re-grouped and produced a positive and promising start to this new League One campaign as The Blues extended their unbeaten start to four fames with a 2-1 home win against Wigan Athletic, while Wrexham currently sit top of the division thanks to a comprehensive 3-0 home win against Shrewsbury Town.

It's been 29 years since Birmingham City last plied their trade in the English third tier and The Blues have made a promising start to life back in League One as they picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at home with Reading before embarking upon a three-match winning streak.

Important victories against Wycombe Wanderers, Leyton Orient and Wigan Athletic have helped thrust Birmingham City up into an early play-off position in fourth place and another three points for Chris Davies' side could see the west midlands club draw level with Wrexham at the top of the League One table.

Interestingly, each of Birmingham City's four league games so far this season have also produced goals for both teams, so with this upcoming clash involving top four teams in the division, the goals market may be a good option for this keenly anticipated fixture.

Wrexham have continued their impressive momentum on the back of the Welsh club's back-to-back promotions which has taken The Dragons from the National League up into League One as the visitors sit top of the early League One standings thanks to putting together a five-game unbeaten start to the campaign.

Four wins and a draw have earned Wrexham a 13-point tally to date and includes wins registered against Wycombe Wanderers, Reading, Peterborough United and Shrewsbury Town respectively, so the Welsh visitors will head into Monday night's game at St Andrews in equally confident mood.

Wrexham have also been absent from the English third tier for some time following a 19-year gap which saw the club descend down into the non-league top flight but the club's impressive resurgence under their American movie-star ownership has placed the club in a great position to achieve what would be a unprecedented third promotion on the trot.

Having suffered just the single defeat in their previous 17 matches in all competitions, Wrexham will fancy their chances of getting something out of this upcoming clash in the west midlands and the prospects of the visitors hitting the back of the net also look very promising as well.

Birmingham v Wrexham Verdict

It's been 18 years since these two clubs met in a competitive match and Birmingham City have won the last two encounters but the goals market appeals here as both sides look set to bulge the net.

Therefore, our main bet will be BTTS Yes @ 1.75
