Birmingham City vs Millwall Preview

Birmingham City meet Millwall in Saturday's lunchtime clash in the Championship with the hosts going in search of a fourth league win on the trot in the English second tier while Millwall will be looking for a bit of stability after a mixed start to the season.

Birmingham City have produced a solid start to this new Championship campaign as The Blues still remain unbeaten after their opening four games of the new term which consists of one draw and then three subsequent wins on the trot.

An opening day of the season 1-1 draw away from home at Swansea City was a solid point on the road but better was to come for John Eustace's side as his side captured three wins in the trot in subsequent weeks with victories gained over Leeds United, Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle respectively.

A fantastic start to this season has been built upon by a desperately needed change of ownership in the background and after years of decline, the west midlands club seem to be back on the up again.

Goals may be in short supply when Millwall visit though as three of Birmingham City's four league games have resulted in Under 2.5 goals, while eight of Birmingham's last 10 home games have also produced two goals or less as well.

Millwall have produced a mixed bag of results so far in this season's new Championship campaign as The Lions have won twice but also suffered two defeats as well, so the London club find themselves in a mid-table position in 11th place in the English second tier table.

Two defeats on the trot to Bristol City and Norwich City have been book-ended by wins either side against Middlesbrough and Stoke City, while the bigger picture shows Millwall have managed to capture just four wins out of their last 13 matches overall but having also slipped to seven defeats as well, Gary Rowett's side look to have their work cut out this Saturday.

Indeed, former Birmingham City manager, Gary Rowett will be attempting to plot Birmingham's downfall but St Andrews will be another sell-out for the west midlands club so the visitors may struggle in this clash.

Goals have been in short supply as well for Millwall as six of their last 10 matches have also resulted in Under 2.5 goals.

Birmingham City v Millwall Verdict

Previous history between Birmingham City and Millwall suggests this upcoming lunchtime clash at St Andrews will be another low-scoring affair as no fewer than 11 of the previous 13 encounters have resulted in Under 2.5 goals and this Saturday's meeting may be no exception.

Birmingham City have momentum though heading into this fixture and the hosts may nick a narrow 1-0 win.

Therefore, our main bet will be Under 2.5 goals @ 1.57

Other side bets worth considering:

Birmingham City win @ 2.30

Correct score: Birmingham City 1-0 @ 6.50
