Friday afternoon brings us the opening game of the new Danish top flight season and features this upcoming clash between AGF Aarhus and Midtjylland with the hosts looking to pick up where they left off at the end of last season, while Midtjylland will be seeking to defend last season's Superliga title, having finished top of the division at the end of last season, earning themselves a place in the Champions League qualifiers.

Aarhus finished the regular Danish top flight season in fifth place and back-to-back wins against the likes of FC Copenhagen 3-2 (home) and Brondby 3-2 (away) ensured they also registered a fifth place finish in the Championship Round when the division split into two.

However, an opening day of the season fixture against Midtjylland will test an upbeat Aarhus outfit here on Friday especially as the hosts have won just twice in their last 10 games overall, but goals could figure here as no fewer than eight of AGF's last 10 games have resulted in Over 2.5 goals.

Midtjylland not only finished top of the Superliga table at the end of the regular season last term, but the visitors also finished top of the Championship Round table as well, thus ensuring them a place in this season's Champions League qualifiers.

Despite slipping to defeats against Brondby and Silkeborg in 2-1 and 3-0 losses and both of which were away from home, Midtjylland managed to re-group and finish last term with a useful looking five-match unbeaten sequence which consisted of three wins and two draws.

Victories over Brondby 3-2, AGF 2-1 and FC Copenhagen 2-1 proved to be enough for Thomas Thomasberg's side to claim a top spot finish and head into the Champions League qualifiers where they will meet Andorran outfit Santa Coloma in the 2nd qualifying round.

For now though, Midtjylland's focus will be solely on this upcoming opening game of the season at Ceres Park & Arena against AGF whom they beat 2-1 in their last meeting at the MCH Arena back in mid-May towards the end of last season.

In addition, Midtjylland have lost just three out of their previous 13 away games in the Danish top flight.
