This week sees the round of last 16 being played in the Copa Libertadores and features this upcoming clash between Chilean hosts, Colo Colo, and their Colombian counterparts, Junior, when the two teams meet at the Estadio Monumental David Arellano in the 1st leg of this knockout tie.

Colo Colo currently occupy fourth place in the Chile Primera A standings but they are just four points adrift of the league leaders, Universidad de Chile on the domestic front where they are unbeaten in their last three games, while overall, the hosts bring a decent looking eight-match unbeaten sequence into this 1st leg tie of the Copa Libertadores.

Colo Colo have also reached the regional finals of the Copa Chile as well, thanks to wins against Deportes Quillon, O'Higgins 5-3 on aggregate and Deportes Santa Cruz 2-1 on aggregate, along with recent wins in the Primera A against Union Espanola and O'Higgins.

The hosts also finished runners-up in Group A behind Fluminense to claim a place in the knockout rounds of this season's competition although they only did so by the virtue of goal difference and a better head-to-head record against Cerro Porteno who finished level on six points with Colo Colo.

Junior finished top of Group D and sneaked pole position by virtue of goal difference over runners-up Botafogo as the top two clubs finished on 10 points apiece with Junior navigating their way through the group stage going unbeaten across their six group games.

Victories against Botafogo and LDU Quito, both away from home, were further bolstered by picking up points in four draws and the visitors have made themselves a tough side to beat in all competitions in recent times as Arturo Reyes's side have suffered just three defeats in their last 16 matches.

However, results on the Colombian domestic front have been a little more modest as the visitors have managed to capture just four wins from their last 15 games in the Primera A, all of which were gained on home soil at their Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez with victories over Once Caldas, Millonarios, Atletico Bucaramanga and Boyaca Chico respectively.

Junior have also slipped to five defeats as well though within these previous 15 games, four of which were inflicted upon Arturo Reyes's side on their travels with losses incurred against America de Cali, Millonarios (twice) and Atletico Bucaramanga, so the visitors may have their work cut out in Chile in this 1st leg.
