Matchday 2 in Group B of this Copa America features this upcoming clash between Ecuador and Jamaica when the two teams face off at the Allegiant Stadium with neither side picking up a point in their respective opening games in the group; Ecuador were dealt a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Venezuela while Jamaica lost 1-0 to Mexico, leaving both sides playing catch-up behind Venezuela and Mexico.

Since taking a break in their CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying which saw Ecuador round of the halfway stage with a 1-0 home win against Chile, Ecuador have posted a mixed bag of results in mainly international friendlies as Felix Sanchez's side have picked up victories over Bolivia and Honduras along with being dealt three defeats in the process as well.

Defeats in friendlies against Italy and Argentina along with an opening 2-1 loss to Venezuela in the opening game of Group B in the Copa America means Ecuador will be desperate to rack up all three points in this encounter.

Having suffered just the single defeat though in their opening six World Cup qualifiers along with picking up important victories over Uruguay, Bolivia and Chile respectively, Sanchez's side look in good shape to gain their first win here.

Jamaica have been dealt a difficult group comprising of the likes of Mexico, Ecuador and Venezuela and if the Reggae Boyz were under any illusions as to the size of their task, then the 1-0 loss to Mexico in the opening game may have caused Jamaica to hit the re-set button in terms of managing expectations.

Jamaica had previously racked up three wins on the trot prior to the start of the Copa America tournament which consisted of picking up wins against Panama, Dominican Republic and Dominica, the latter two victories being achieved in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying section.

However, back-to-back World Cup qualifying wins may pale into insignificance once Jamaica step onto the field for their matchday 2 encounter with Ecuador especially as their CONMEBOL counterparts have suffered just the one defeat in their opening six World Cup qualifiers.
