Canada registered what could prove to be an excellent 1-0 win against Peru on matchday 2 in Group A as Jesse Marsch's side look to close in on securing a place in the knockout rounds of this first ever appearance in the Copa America, while Chile suffered an expected loss at the hands of the current World Cup holders, Argentina, in a 1-0 defeat in their previous game.

Canada know they can virtually assure themselves the runners-up spot in Group A by avoiding defeat to Chile in this final game of the group stage as Argentina are expected to at least avoid defeat to the bottom nation, Peru, in the other game being played simultaneously.

An opening defeat to Argentina would have been accounted for by national coach Jesse Marsch and his staff but his Canada side quickly bounced back by recording the 1-0 win against Peru, thus giving themselves a great chance of achieving a place in the knockout rounds.

However, Canada have produced a mixed bag of results in recent times and this is underlined by the fact that they have managed to capture just four wins within their last 10 internationals whilst also losing five of these last 10 in the process as well, so Marsch will be urging his players to avoid defeat at all cost.

Chile know they must grab all three points and hope Peru lose to Argentina if Ricardo Gareca's side are to have any chance of making it out of the group stage and into the quarter-finals of this Copa America tournament.

La Roja opened their account with a disappointing 0-0 draw with Peru on matchday 1 in Group A, particularly as they had previously registered a 2-0 win against the same opponents in the CONMEBOL section of the World Cup qualifiers, which was followed by an understandable 1-0 defeat at the hands of Argentina.

All three points are therefore a must for Ricardo Gareca's side against their upcoming opponents, Canada, but this may be easier said than done as Chile have managed to capture just three wins in their last 12 internationals in all competitions.

Wins against Peru, Albania and Paraguay (the latter two being in international friendlies) have been outweighed by five defeats within this period as well, while goals may also be in short supply in this upcoming clash with Canada as seven of Chile's last 12 games overall have resulted in Under 2.5 goals.
