Both Newcastle United and AC Milan will need to dust themselves off after suffering defeats on the domestic front on the weekend as Newcastle United were dealt a comprehensive 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Tottenham in the nation's capital on Sunday whilst AC Milan also slipped to defeat away from home, losing 3-2 at Atalanta, so both teams will be eager to get over the line and secure a third place spot with a win here.

After putting together a promising and impressive eight-match unbeaten sequence (which included six wins) in all competitions from mid-September through to towards the end of October, Newcastle United have struggled to attain the consistency they previously showed under manager, Eddie Howe, as The Magpies have managed to pick up just a further four wins in their subsequent 11 games in all competitions.

Three of these four wins were recorded in the Premier League with victories achieved over Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United along with a League Cup win over Manchester United also, but the north-east club have also been handed five defeats within this period as well.

AC Milan also tasted defeat on the domestic front on the weekend as they were dealt a 3-2 defeat away from home at Atalanta as the Italian visitors have also struggled to achieve any sort of consistency in overall results in all competitions of late.

Following a solid and noteworthy single defeat in an 11-game period from mid-August through to early October which also included collecting no fewer than eight wins in the process, AC Milan's form has taken a worrying nose-dive in subsequent matches as Stefano Pioli's side have managed to capture just a further three wins from their last 10 matches in all competitions.

A 2-1 home win against PSG in the Champions League along with home wins in the Italian top flight against Fiorentina and Frosinone would normally have been considered good results but the gloss of these victories has been wiped away by also slipping to five defeats within this 10-game sequence which include heavy losses in the Champions League to PSG (3-0 away) and a 3-1 loss at home to Borussia Dortmund.
