Inter Milan will be going in search of a fourth win on the trot in all competitions on Wednesday night when they play host to French Ligue 1 side Monaco at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, as the hosts also look to cement their place in the round of last 16 with all three points.

Monaco themselves will be keen to make it three wins on the trot as the French visitors look to make the top eight cut and automatic qualification for a place in the round of last 16 following a 1-0 home win against Premier League side, Aston Villa, in their previous Champions League tie which has lifted them level on points with the west midlands club.

Back-to-back wins against Empoli and Lecce in the domestic Serie A along with a 1-0 win on the road at Czech Republic outfit Sparta Prague will give Inter Milan a timely lift ahead of this important final game of the league phase, while the bigger picture shows the Italian hosts have been dealt just two defeats in their previous 25 matches in all competitions. Inter Milan have captured no fewer than 20 wins within these previous 25 games which must surely hand the initiative to Simone Inzaghi's side.

Monaco have registered back-to-back wins against Aston Villa in the Champions League and Rennes in the French Ligue 1 in recent times and the French visitors will now be seeking a third victory on the trot as they look to nail down an automatic place in the round of last 16.

However, this may well be easier said than done though for the French side as Monaco have managed to collect just four wins within their previous 13 matches in all competitions, which came in the form of wins against Toulouse and Rennes in Ligue 1, along with a 4-1 win against Union Saint-Jean in the Coupe de France and the aforementioned Villa result.

On the flip-side, Monaco have also slipped to seven defeats within this mixed bag of results, five of which have been inflicted upon Adi Hütter's side on their travels which doesn't fill one with much confidence that they can produce a winning performance at high-flying Inter Milan.

In addition, Monaco have recorded just one win from their last eight outings on the road in all competitions along with being handed five defeats in the process, and having managed just one clean sheet in this period, the visitors look to have their work cut out here.
