Palmeiras suffered a second defeat away from home on the trot in the Brazilian top flight in midweek when they were beaten 1-0 at relegation threatened Fluminense but the hosts will now return to the more familiar surroundings of their Allianz Parque for this upcoming clash with lowly Vitoria looking to make amends, while Vitoria also tasted defeat during the week when they were dealt a 2-1 loss at home to high-flying Flamengo, making it four defeats on the trot for the visitors.

Recent losses on the road at Botafogo and Fluminense have resulted in Palmeiras dropping down to third place in the Serie A standings but along with a previous 3-0 loss away from home at Fortaleza, these have been Palmeiras' only three defeats in their last 13 matches overall.

Palmeiras have collected no fewer than nine wins within this 13-game period, seven of which have been registered on home soil at their Allianz Parque which will give Abel Ferreira's side plenty of reasons to feel upbeat about their chances here this weekend.

Vitoria suffered a fourth league defeat on the trot in the Brazilian top flight during the week when they were handed a 2-1 loss at home to Flamengo which followed previous defeats at the hands of Botafogo, Fortaleza and Gremio respectively, which have contributed to Vitoria dropping down into the bottom four of the Serie A table and into the relegation zone.

Vitoria had previously put together an encouraging four-game unbeaten run back in early June in the domestic top flight which consisted of two draws and two wins; points picked up in draws with Cuiaba and Juventude were boosted by recording back-to-back wins against Internacional and Atletico Mineiro.

Since that latter win though, Vitoria have managed to capture just a further two wins in their subsequent nine games overall with victories over fellow strugglers Fluminense and Criciuma, but also includes slipping to seven defeats as well.

Six of Vitoria's last 10 games overall have resulted in Over 2.5 goals being scored and as four of Vitoria's seven losses in recent times have been inflicted upon Thiago Carpini's side on their travels, the goals market may be the best option for this upcoming encounter.
