World Cup Qualifying, played Friday, October 11th, 2024
Here is our Chile v Brazil tip and game preview. Based on our detailed analysis of statistics listed below and other factors, we predicted both teams to not score in this game, under 2.5 goals, and a Brazil away win. Our confidence in this tip was moderate relative to other tips.
Chile will be eager to break a five-match sequence without a win in all competitions but the hosts face a tough assignment as Brazil are the visitors to the Estadio Nacional Julio MartÃnez Prádanos, but Brazil also experienced a disappointing run out last time in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers when they were dealt a 1-0 defeat away from home at Paraguay.
Chile have lost three out of their last five internationals in all competitions and this poor recent slump in form has seen the hosts slip to losses at the hands of Argentina (twice) and Bolivia respectively; the defeats to Argentina were in the Copa America and a previous 3-0 loss away from home in a World Cup qualifier.
The bigger picture shows Chile have managed to capture just three wins within their previous 15 internationals overall which came in the shape of victories over Peru, Albania and Paraguay, but also includes Ricardo Gareca's side being handed no fewer than seven defeats as well.
A similar pattern of results can be found on the World Cup qualifying stage as Chile have registered just two wins in their previous 13 qualifiers in the CONMEBOL section, one of which was a 3-2 win away at Brazil but this poor period of results also include slipping to seven defeats.
Brazil have produced a somewhat circumspect World Cup qualifying campaign so far as the South American giants currently languish in fifth place in the CONMEBOL standings where they hold a slender one-point cushion over seventh and eighth placed Paraguay and Bolivia respectively.
Despite having suffered just the two defeats in their last 10 internationals overall which came in the shape of losses to Uruguay and Paraguay along with capturing four wins as well, Brazil appear to be a mere shadow of their former selves as the visitors have won three, drawn one but also lost four of their opening eight qualifiers.
Quite frankly, it has been a pretty disastrous campaign for Dorival Junior's side despite winning both of their opening two games with victories gained over the likes of Bolivia and Peru which had seemingly got the Selecao off to a great start.
The visitors have quickly almost sunk without trace since though, as Brazil have registered just one further win from their subsequent six qualifiers, whilst also being handed four defeats in the process which have come in the form of losses to Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina and Paraguay respectively.
Chile v Brazil Verdict
Both Chile and Brazil have therefore experienced poor results in recent times in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying section but having won the last four meetings on the trot against their hosts, Brazil still look the more likely to find a way to win here.
Therefore, our main bet will be Brazil win @ 1.57
Other side bets worth considering:
Brazil win & Under 2.5 goals @ 3.25
Correct Score: Brazil 1-0 @ 5.50
