Sevilla's inconsistent start to this new Spanish top flight campaign continued last weekend in La Liga when the hosts registered a 2-0 win away from home at Espanyol, while Real Sociedad were dealt a disappointing 2-0 loss at home to Osasuna, so both sides experienced mixed fortunes last weekend.

Sevilla began this new Spanish top flight season in dismal fashion as Garcia Pimienta's side failed to win any of their opening four games, slipping to two losses at the hands of Villarreal and Girona while also picking up points in draws with Las Palmas and Mallorca.

The hosts have since managed to pick up occasional wins at the expense of Getafe, Real Valladolid, Real Betis and Espanyol respectively but Sevilla have also been handed further defeats by the likes of Alaves and Barcelona, the latter being a particularly heavy 5-1 loss away from home at the La Liga leaders.

The bigger picture shows Sevilla have managed to capture just these four aforementioned wins from their previous 15 matches in the domestic top flight whilst also falling foul of a total of eight defeats in the process as well.

Real Sociedad lost 2-0 at home to Osasuna last weekend which put an end to a previously promising four-game unbeaten sequence in La Liga which included picking up points by way of draws with Real Valladolid and Atletico Madrid, along with collecting wins against Valencia and Girona.

The visitors have also produced an inconsistent start to this new La Liga campaign as Real Sociedad have registered just three league wins from their opening 11 matches overall along with being involved in three stalemates as well as slipping to five defeats.

Interestingly though, four out of Real Sociedad's five losses so far this season in the Spanish top flight have been incurred on home soil at their Reale Arena while on the road, the visitors have been dealt just the single defeat within their five outings on their travels.

That single defeat came in the form of a 1-0 loss at Mallorca but having picked up two wins on the road by way of victories at Espanyol and Girona along with keeping four clean sheets in these five away games, Real Sociedad might just hold the edge in this upcoming tussle at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
