Monza slipped to a second defeat in three games in Serie A last weekend when they were handed a heavy 3-0 defeat away from home at AC Milan while Fiorentina secured all three points by way of a 1-0 home win against Verona which became the visitors' second win in three games in the Italian top flight after recently beating Salernitana in a crushing 3-0 victory also at home.

Returning to Monza, the hosts have performed reasonably well so far in what is only their second season in the domestic top flight as they currently sit in a comfortable mid-table position of 10th place in the Serie A table which has largely been thanks to solid results on home soil at their U-Power Stadium where Monza have been handed just the one defeat so far in this campaign.

Fiorentina had previously produced a pretty solid start to this new Serie A campaign as Vincenzo Italiano's side had suffered just the single defeat within their opening eight games which came in the shape of a heavy 4-0 rout away from home at Inter Milan but also included the Violets picking up five wins in the process as well.
