Fiorentina sneaked a narrow 1-0 win away from home at Monza just prior to the Christmas break which not only became a third win in four games for Friday night's hosts but also helped Fiorentina up into fifth place while Torino moved up into 10th place following a 1-1 draw at home with Udinese.

After a worrying period which brought Fiorentina a three-match losing streak from towards the end of October through to early November with defeats suffered at the hands of Empoli, Lazio and Juventus respectively, the hosts have since seemed to turn a corner in terms of form and results as Vincenzo Italiano's side have been dealt just one further defeat in their subsequent six games overall.

That loss came in the shape of a 1-0 loss away from home at AC Milan but four wins collected within these preceding six games have seen Fiorentina grab important victories over Bologna, Salernitana, Verona and Monza, and the hosts will be hoping they can add Torino to this recent list of scalps in the Italian top flight on Friday night.

The visitors have also claimed four wins within this improved sequence of results but it's worth noting that three of these four wins were achieved on home soil at their Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, while results away from home have been less convincing in recent times.

Torino ended last season's campaign on the road with a flourish as the visitors won their last four away games on the trot but this season has been a very different story as Torino have managed to capture just two wins from their eight outings to date this term whilst slipping to four defeats as well.
