Empoli's winless run in the Italian top flight was extended to four games recently when the hosts suffered a 1-0 defeat away from home at Torino last weekend which followed a 4-3 loss at home to Sassuolo along with two draws, while Lazio also fell to a 2-0 defeat at home last time out to Inter Milan, so both teams head into Friday night's encounter at the Stadio Carlo Castellani in indifferent form.

Results so far in this season's Serie A campaign have been pretty ordinary where Empoli have been concerned as Aurelio Andreazzoli's side have managed to collect just three wins throughout the whole of this campaign to date which consists of wins against Salernitana, Fiorentina and Napoli but having also slumped to 10 defeats within their total of 16 matches played to date this term, Empoli find themselves sitting in the relegation zone in the Serie A table.

That rare recent highlight was a 1-0 home win against Cagliari but having also been dealt defeats at the hands of Bologna, Salernitana and Inter Milan along with being held to draws by the likes of Roma and Verona in 0-0 and 1-1 draws respectively, the goals market again appeals here where Lazio are concerned.

Indeed, eight of Lazio's last 10 matches overall in Serie A have also resulted in Under 2.5 goals being scored and another low-scoring encounter looks to be on the cards at the Stadio Carlo Castellani on Friday night as two out of form sides go head-to-head on the back of some very ordinary looking results.

In addition, Lazio's results away from home in recent times have been very inconsistent, picking up just two wins from their eight outings on the road to date whilst also being dealt five defeats in the process as well, but six of Lazio's last 10 away games have also produced two goals or less.
