West Ham vs Brentford Preview

West Ham slumped to a third league defeat on the trot in the Premier League last Saturday and extended their winless run in the domestic top flight to six games following a disappointing 2-0 defeat away from home at Nottingham Forest, while Brentford slipped to an eleventh defeat in 14 games after last weekend's 1-0 loss on the road at Manchester City, so it would be fair to say that both sides will be eager to return to winning ways in this upcoming all-London clash on Monday night.

West Ham have suffered recent defeats at the hands of Manchester United, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest which followed draws with the likes of Brighton, Sheffield United and Bournemouth which have prompted calls for the removal of manager David Moyes despite The Hammers still occupying a top half position of ninth place in the Premier League table!

The hosts have lost just once in their last seven home games but that defeat was a particularly heavy one as they were soundly thrashed 6-0 by London rivals, Arsenal, last time out at the London Stadium.

Nevertheless, West Ham look likely to at least hit the back of the net here on Monday night as Moyes' side have scored in five of these last seven home games.

Brentford have managed to collect just three wins from their last 14 games overall in the Premier League which have come in the shape of wins against Luton Town, Nottingham Forest and Wolves, but as The Bees have not dealt in any draws whatsoever during this period, the visitors have also been handed 11 defeats in the process as well.

This has resulted in Thomas Frank's side currently occupying a disappointing lower half position of 14th place in the Premier League table prior to this tricky looking clash against West Ham on Monday night and it's worth noting that two of these three wins were actually recorded on home soil at their Gtech Community Stadium.

Needless to say, results away from home so far in this season's Premier League campaign have been well below par for a Brentford side who we are accustomed to seeing put up a fight on their travels and although they've registered wins on their travels at Fulham, Chelsea and Wolves, The Bees have also been handed no fewer than eight defeats within their 12 away games so far this term.

The high number of defeats away from home this season will be a major concern for Thomas Frank and his side but now they have striker Ivan Toney back in the squad, the visitors should also manage to notch at least once against an out-of-sorts West Ham outfit.
