Newcastle United slumped to a third defeat on the trot in the Premier League on New Years Day when The Magpies were handed a 4-2 defeat away from home at Liverpool which also became a fifth loss in a matter of six games for Eddie Howe's side, while Manchester City collected a third win in four games after recording a solid 2-0 home win against relegation threatened Sheffield United.

Despite each of their three defeats so far this term being away from home, Manchester City have still managed to capture six wins from their total of 10 outings on the road so far this term and given Newcastle United's recent slump in the past few weeks, the visitors will be eyeing off another potential three points here on Saturday evening at St James' Park.

The bigger picture shows Manchester City have slipped to just four defeats out of their previous 19 outings on their travels in the Premier League and this record only seems to further enhance their prospects of achieving a positive result against Newcastle United on Saturday.
