Crystal Palace suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat away from home at Brighton in last weekend's Premier League action which resulted in The Eagles remaining in 14th place in the English top flight table, while Chelsea will be desperate to avoid a third league defeat on the trot following last weekend's 4-2 loss at home to Wolves, so both teams will be keen to return to winning ways here on Monday night.

It's been a disappointing season so far for Crystal Palace and their under-fire manager Roy Hodgson as the hosts have managed to capture just two wins from their last 12 matches overall which have come in the form of victories against the likes of Brentford and Sheffield United but these have been overshadowed by seven defeats as well within this period.

Three of these seven losses have been inflicted upon Crystal Palace on home soil at Selhurst Park with losses incurred against Everton, Bournemouth and Liverpool while the bigger picture shows Roy Hodgson's side have registered just two wins from their last nine home games overall.

League wins on home soil in the Premier League have been few and far between though for The Eagles as they have recorded just six victories from their previous 23 games overall in their own backyard.

Chelsea have also produced a disappointing if not disastrous campaign so far in this season's Premier League as The Blues occupy 11th place in the Premier League table and the visitors head into this all-London clash on Monday night on the back of two defeats on the trot.

Recent losses at the hands of Liverpool 4-1 and Wolves 4-2 have seen Chelsea concede eight goals in their last two games in the Premier League so needless to say that Mauricio Pochettino's side must produce a much tighter display in defence on Monday night if they are to prevail at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea had previously offered a glimpse of what they are capable of when they racked up three wins on the trot in previous weeks as The Blues secured important wins against Crystal Palace (2-1 at home), Luton Town and Fulham respectively, so the visitors will no doubt be keen to replicate that sort of form for Monday night's clash against Crystal Palace.

The visitors will need to break a dismal run of five defeats out of their last six outings on the road though if they are to walk away with all three points at Selhurst Park.
